new phone... old memories

Hey Guys!
while i am happy to post that i recently went from a blackberry bold 9700 to an iPhone 4... it was unexpected... and i had to go through the pain of trying to get people's numbers and addresses via facebook and emails... my BB completely died with no resurrection, luckily i had been uploading and updating my photo file... which i went through (some images were from over a year ago!?) and it gave me some great memories. some of which are random but i would like to share with you.
enjoy!

first gumbo! yumm!

for this christmas i went home to ohio and was supposed to return to nyc on the 27th (the day before my birthday) but instead the great blizzard hit leaving me "stranded" at my parents (not too terrible when your mom likes to shop and has work off that week too!) before the trip i had eben craving my cajun grandpa's chicken gumbo (and when the boy got wind of it that my mom knew the recipe he quickly begged her to give it to me... she was trying to hold it for ransom until he was able to visit...) as luck would have it the day i flew in we were having that for dinner!!! Aaaand she had schedule a mani-pedi for herself in the midst of the cook time... so i did some very observant spy and jotting down the recipe... and low and behold the boy and i have it as often as possible...
so i feasted on some falling off the bone chicken gumbo with andoullie sausage over rice with a piece of crusty french bread! mmmm!
my family was very impressed that the boy has changed me from a chicken and fish kinda girl to one who has now ventured to pork and sometimes has bites of beef! crazy... my middle sister now claims i am much cooler for it. ;)
My oldest sister's birthday is christmas day and we often like to do an at home xmas dinner my mom and i came up with an amazing menu... most of which was not pictured... but consisted of the pork, panchetta, and lemon roulade pictured below (the lemons melt and were soo amazing!)
my mom found a recipe for this filo, carrot, turnip, and sage dish... which too was yummo! i had also just been to a restaurant in NYC that had warm popovers and a recipe that came out with the basket so we whipped up some of those (not in popover pans, but muffin pans) they werent as big... but still delish!

While i was "stranded" my mom tried to get me to go through my entire childhood closet... but i was so enthralled with looking at old hilarious photos! check out the creepy santa (i was NOT happy one bit!) but my boy receieved a text with this gem and thought it was too funny!
creepy santa, i have been asked several times if this was in the scary santa book... answer: not to my knowledge!
here is another one of his faves... he says it looks like to alligator was trying to not be eaten by me... i (and my mother calls it "cute" ;)
mmm.... gator
